This course includes an introduction to the endocrine system and will cover common areas of confusion when interpreting blood work. During this course, we will discuss the principal laboratory tests used to assess physiologic functions and possible diseases of the endocrine system. We will organize these tests into primary and secondary diagnostic screening panels for each of the major endocrine glands and will demonstrate the use of these diagnostic panels to characterize the presence of Cushing's syndrome, Addison's disease, diabetes mellitus, hyperinsulinism, hypo- and hyperthyroidism, and hyper- and hypoparathyroidism.
